Objectives
The specific objectives of this Chair are to:
- establish a network of researchers and institutions in the Mediterranean and in Africa to support research, training, students and the mobility of professionals as well as knowledge-sharing in the fields of tangible and intangible heritage and traditional know-how;
- develop and implement, jointly with partners, a cooperation programme to support, from a scientific point of view, the creation of a research centre of excellence at the University of Cape Verde (UNICV);
- provide postgraduate training in the fields of intangible heritage and traditional know-how; design and deliver short-term ICT-supported training courses for professionals, as well as marginalized groups;
- design and implement activities aiming to enhance the knowledge of young researchers on the tangible and intangible heritage, as well as on traditional know-how, and to develop/strengthen the capacities of public and private actors at the local, national and regional levels in the areas of focus;
- act as a clearinghouse for the collection and dissemination of good practices on the application of the intangible cultural heritage and traditional know-how to heritage conservation; develop an interactive good practice exchange model for academic groups and researchers coming from countries in the South; and organize international seminars and thematic workshops; and,
- cooperate closely with UNESCO on relevant programmes and activities
