Strengthening the Governance of Culture to Unlock Development Opportunities

This UNESCO expert facility project is funded by the European Union and contributes to the implementation of the 2005 Convention. It aims to strengthen the system of governance for culture in developing countries and reinforce the role of culture as a vector for sustainable development and poverty reduction.

The project involves technical assistance missions undertaken by top specialists in the field of cultural policies chosen from a pre-selected pool of experts.

Following the technical assistance missions' promising results, the project has been extended until 31 December 2014, so that follow-up activities can be carried out. In 2014, in-the-field follow-up activities will take place in Burkina FasoCambodiaNiger and Viet Nam, while Argentina, Barbados, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Haiti, Honduras, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritius and the Seychelles will benefit from remote follow-up activities.
